The St. John Fisher College women’s soccer team dropped its season opener, losing 4-2 to host Montclair State University today.

Fisher jumped out to the early lead as Heather Konieczny scored the game’s opening goal in the 11th minute off a pass from Amanda Siebert.

The Red Hawks, however, answered right back, scoring in the 14th minute and took the lead for good less than three minutes later.

Fisher pulled to within a goal at 3-2 in the closing moments of the first half, as Vicki Alfieri scored from 25-yards out with 18 seconds left in the opening period.

Montclair State sealed the win with the game’s final goal coming on a breakaway in the 63rd minute.

Goalie Jessica Plukas made seven saves over 67 minutes of action.

Fisher will host Bard College at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the opening round of the Fisher Tournament.
