In the first game of a three-game set over two days, the St. John Fisher College baseball team defeated Muhlenberg 13-11 in Flemington, NJ at Diamond Nation on Friday afternoon. With the game tied at 11 in the ninth inning Jason Nevada drove in Sean Osterman for the winning run. Teagen Barresi drove in Nevada for an insurance run to make the score 13-11 heading into the bottom of the inning.

The bottom of the ninth only saw three Muhlenberg hitters, as Ben Bostick made a leaping catch for the first out before Tim Johnson struck out two straight batters to earn his second win of the season.

Leo Fusilli had a team-high four RBI all coming off his first inning grand slam, hitting Fisher’s first long ball of the season in impressive fashion. But it wasn’t long until a teammate joined in the home run action as Bostick hit his first-career bomb as a Cardinal in the third. Bostick finished with three RBI on two hits, while Barresi (RBI) and Osterman (2 RBI) also had two hits apiece.

Today the teams will finish their weekend of competition with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
