Women's Tennis Defeated by Stevens

Vahl remains undefeated in singles play, boasting a 6-0 record.
The St. John Fisher College women’s tennis team (3-3) lost a hard fought 6-3 battle to conference contender Stevens Institute of Technology (6-1) at the Fisher Courts on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Fisher falls to 2-2 in Empire 8 match-ups, while Stevens improves to 4-0.

Elena Vahl remains a powerhouse for Fisher, taking a decisive 6-0, 6-4 win over Stevens’ Nicole Portner at second singles. She teamed up with partner Laura Hale to improve their first doubles record to 5-1 with an 8-1 win over Portner and partner Allyson Kingman.

Fisher’s second and third doubles saw opportunities, but could not capitalize.

Senior Katie Barlow picked up Fisher’s third point with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Mine Bese.

Fisher is back in action with it travels to Brockport on Tuesday for a non-conference match beginning at 4 p.m.
