Bob Ward, St. John Fisher College's director of intercollegiate athletics, is featured in this month's Athletic Management magazine.  In the article, "The Right Direction?", Ward and four other athletic administrators from NCAA institutions, discuss ethical behavior and how it relates to the recruitment of student-athletes.   During his 22-year tenure, Ward has helped Fisher emerge as one of the nation's leaders in sportsmanship and ethics.  Last year, The Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct (CSEC) announced that Fisher's baseball team had been named the national 2008 NCAA Sportsmanship Male Award winner for Division I, II and III.

The Cardinals, 19-16, are now on a 11-game win streak and will travel to the University of Rochester on Tuesday to wrap up their regular season, before traveling to Hoboken, N.J. on Saturday to take on host Stevens in the Empire 8 Championship Semifinals.

Luke Lennox
Men's Soccer

On Wednesday, Lennox’s overtime penalty kick goal clinched the win for the Cardinals, as they defeated SUNY Geneseo 2-1.  Lennox also recorded an assist against the Blue Knights.

On Saturday, Lennox led the Cardinals to a Halloween night victory tallying a goal and two assists.  The Cardinals defeated conference opponent Alfred 4-1.

Lennox also garnered Empire 8 Player of the Week honors.

In addition to his local honors, Lennox was recognized regionally, as he was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2009-10 First Team for his combined successes on the playing field as well as in the classroom.  Lennox has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average in each semester at Fisher.

The Cardinals’ Empire 8 championship hopes depend on the outcome of their upcoming contest against host Elmira College, which will be replayed on Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m.  With a win or draw, the Cardinals will advance to the semi-finals of the Championship, facing host Nazareth on Friday.
