Women's Basketball Knocks Off No. 1 Seed in ECACs

Colleen Maloney scored a career-high 27 points in Friday's win.
Fourth-seeded St. John Fisher College knocked off No. 1 SUNY Cobleskill in the semifinals of the ECAC Upstate Women's Basketball Championship, as the visiting Cardinals came through with a 67-52 win on Friday night.

With the victory, the Cardinals improve to 17-10 and will face No. 2 Ithaca College at 1 p.m. Saturday in the championship game.  This will be the fourth meeting this year betwen the Cardinals and the Bombers.  Fisher won the two regular-season meetings, while Ithaca won in the semifinals of last week's Empire 8 Championship.

Colleen Maloney led the Cardinals with a career-high 27 points.  She also finished with seven rebounds and four steals.   Fellow sophomore Stephanie Sweeney recorded a double-double, tallying 10 points and a career-high 10 steals.  She also finished with six boards.

Fisher used a stiffling full-court press to create 28 turnovers for the game.

The men's basketball team moves to 19-0 with a 87-76 win at R.I.T.  The Cardinals knocked down 10 3-pointers in the win, including seven in the first half.  Mike McGee scored 20 points in the win, while Nick Bennett added 19 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
