Andy Episcopo of the St. John Fisher College football team has been named to d3football.com's list of 2009 All-Americans. The Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year and conference First Team selection earned All-American Honorable Mention accolades to end his senior campaign with the Cardinals.
Episcopo led Fisher on the year with 97 tackles (30 more than anyone else on the team) and finished his four-year career with 199 career stops. The linebacker was a leader in many Empire 8 categories including second in forced fumbles (3), second in tackles per game (9.7) and fourth in tackles for a loss (13). Episcopo also finished the year with two sacks.
Episcopo is the first player to be recognized as an All-American since Kenny Bostick and Dan Pollock were First Team selections in 2007. Fisher has had seven players named to All-American teams over the last four seasons - the Cardinals' four players named in 2006 was the most in program history.
