Men's Basketball Beats Brockport in Home-Opener

Jordan Gettings scored a career-high 18 points in Tuesday's win over Brockport.

The St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team shot a blistering 70.8% from the floor over the final 20 minutes and cruised to a 78-61 win over previously-unbeaten College at Brockport (3-1) on Tuesday night at Fisher’s Manning & Napier Varsity Gym.


Fisher used a 9-0 run over a 2:35 span late in the first half and led 35-29 at intermission. Brockport cut the Fisher-lead to five points on the first possession of the second half, but the Cardinals enjoyed a double-digit lead for the final 13:47.


Five players finished in double figures in the scoring department for the Cardinals (2-0), led by sophomore Jordan Gettings, who tallied a career-high 18 points and dished out a team-best five assists.

 
Michael Wopperer recorded a double-double (the fourth of his career). The senior tallied a career-high 12 rebounds and added 14 points.   Connor Henderson finished with 11 points and a career-high seven rebounds. Jordan Koch chipped in with 12 points, as did senior Matt Newman. Freshman Jason Norsen went 3-for-3 from the floor and scored a career-best six points.


For Brockport, Brandon Williams finished with 13 points, while Gerald Williams added 11.

The win ties the series between Fisher and Brockport at 31-31.

Fisher will return to action on Tuesday, December 1st at 7 p.m. and will host Hobart College.

The men's basketball team erupts for 101 points and wins 101-65 over visiting SUNY Oswego.  The Cardinals led 47-26 at the half and 10 different players scored in the win with Rudy Rivera's 25 points leading the way.
