The St. John Fisher College men’s basketball team
picked up a 70-65 win at Carnegie Mellon University on Sunday in the season opener for both programs. The Tartans, who trailed by as many as 16 points late in the first half, took their first lead since the opening moments with just over eight minutes to go at 51-50. The Cardinals, however, responded with a 6-0 run over the next two minutes to regain command.
Six players scored at least eight points in the win, with sophomores
Connor Henderson and
Jordan Gettings leading the way with 12 points.
Brandon Witte added 11 points, while
Michael Wopperer added 10 points and team-high nine rebounds.
