Jenna Waldron of the women’s volleyball team has been named as the Empire 8 Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending October 25, 2009.

Fisher enjoyed a 5-0 week as it opened with a 3-1 victory over SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday. Waldron combined for 106 digs in the five matches, setting a new College record for career digs.

On Friday, Fisher began play in the second of the season’s Empire 8 Crossovers, taking on conference foes Alfred and RIT. Waldron led the Cardinals with 36 digs on the night, as Fisher picked up two wins.

On Saturday, the Cardinals completed the tournament by defeating Elmira and Hartwick. Waldron recorded 39 digs, setting her over the previous College record held by Kim Crawford (1,885). Waldron has now tallied 1,918 digs in her career.

Waldron was also named as the Fisher Female Athlete of the Week.

With four conference victories over the weekend, the Cardinals clinched the fourth and final spot in the Empire 8 Championship. Fisher (16-16) is in the midst of an eight game winning streak, and will continue play with a non-conference matchup Thursday night as they host Buffalo State College at 7 p.m.
