Mary Dougherty snapped a scoreless tie in the 76th minute to give the visiting Fisher women's soccer team
a 1-0 win over host Alfred Unversity. WIth the win, Fisher improves to 6-7-2 overall, but more importantly, 5-3 in the Empire 8 Conference.
Fisher will be the No. 3 seed in next month's Empire 8 Championship, marking the first time since 2005 the Cardinals have qualified for the Conference Championship. The Cardinals will face No. 2 seed Nazareth College in the semifinals. The winner of the four-team tournament earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
