St. John Fisher College’s Garrett Boehmer (Aquinas/Rochester), a freshman on the men’s track and field team, has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 22, 2012.
Boehmer, the lone pole vaulter on the Fisher roster, finished in fifth-place this past weekend at the St. Lawrence University Invitational. The freshman jumped to a height of 3.65 meters, his second-highest height of the season.
The finish helped gain points for Fisher, pacing the team to a sixth-place finish overall.
Fisher will return to action on Saturday when it travels to Ithaca, N.Y. for the Empire 8 Championship.
St. John Fisher College’s Nicoletta Lattuca (Spencerport/Rochester), a freshman on the women’s track and field team, has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 22, 2012.
Lattuca won the women’s long jump, recording a distance of 4.93 meters in the event. The freshman also helped the women’s 4x200 meter relay team come in third place, scoring the team’s best time of the season at 1:53.84 minutes.
The Rochester native also participated in the 60-meter hurdles with a third place finish, recording a personal-best time of 10.06 seconds. Lattuca also finished in fifth place in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.51 seconds.
